Camillei Lefebvre Electric Range February 06, 2019 08:10:57
Undoubtedly our favorite of the bunch, this 30” smoothtop electric range is fantastic all the way around. The top of this one has five burners of various sizes, allowing you to cook a wide variety of dishes at the same time. The tempered glass is quite sturdy, and the overall black and sleek aesthetic can really add to a kitchen. The ovens are also excellent. The top one is a standard electric oven with a smooth sliding rack that impressed us. The lower is a convection oven, pulling hot air in and through the elements in order to prevent hotspots and give you a fantastically crispy outer layer on any food you might put through it.
When you turn on your oven, the whole cavity warms up. That’s perfect for a turkey, but perhaps unnecessary for 300 or so days a year. Double oven ranges, like the GE JB860SJSS, are a great solution because they split the cavity in two, letting you use a smaller upper oven for quicker cooking. All together, this GE model has 6.6 cubic feet of capacity: 2.2 in the upper cavity and 4.4 in the lower. If you are a fan of preparing big birds, keep in mind that the lower oven is 17-and-a-half inches in height, making it several inches shorter than other ovens’ interiors. The lower oven uses convection, so a fan blows the hot air around inside for faster, more even cooking. Up top on the range are five cooking elements, though one is just an on/off option that keeps food warm by heating it at a low temperature. In terms of versatility — with two ovens, convection, and a warming element — this reasonably priced range has a lot to offer.
While it lacks some of the higher-end features of other electric ranges on the list — no convection feature here — the Whirlpool WFE515S0ED is still a great deal. The four-burner range has one that pulls 3,000 watts of power, slightly less than the LG model. With 5.0 cubic feet of capacity, the oven is pretty standard, with an upper broiler element and a hidden lower baking element. The lack of a fan means cooking will be a little slower and potentially less than convection models. Though it may not have extras like a built-in temperature probe, this Whirlpool still delivers when it comes to cooking. We also like that it offers options beyond black, white, and silver when it comes to aesthetics.
Customers liked the Whirlpool electric range as it is very flexible to accommodate your cooking style. The electric range provides enough heat needed for rapid boiling and provides uniform cooking using lower temperatures for your most delicate dishes, like simmering sauces. You will be impressed by its speedy boiling, fantastic preheat time and searing temperatures. Its stainless steel body is very attractive and its matte finish grates cover the whole cooking surface, giving you the flexibility to place pans and pots anywhere on the electric range. It is a pleasure to cook on and really easy to clean the grates that are dishwasher safe. Customers liked its light indicators that alerted that the electric range is still hot – a very good safety feature. We recommend this electric range as its high temperature and boiling performance are pretty darn impressive.
There are other options for this device that are fresh on the market. These are the ones with induction cook tops. The induction cook top heats the pan without heating the surface of the range. This is made possible by using electromagnetic energy. The induction is the safest choice for families since the surface does not heat up at all, thus lowers the risk of burning your skin. It is also very energy efficient since the range does not need to heat up the air around the cooking pans, since the heat is very concentrated. It cooks your food pretty quickly too. It also has features to make cooking easy for everyone. Pre-heat beeps are programmed to let you know when the range starts heating. Auto shut off features are also there to help you minimize excess energy consumption and avoid over cooking your food. This is also a feature to avoid over heating that can cause fire if not turned off in time. Oven lights and an oven window are designed so that users can check if their food is already cooked without opening the oven and wasting heat. Most of them also have clocks and timers since time is a vital element to consider when cooking or baking.
Still, most say they love the look of this white, smoothtop range, which doesn`t show smudges at much as black cooktops do, and that it`s a top performer in all tasks. A few of the lower ratings we saw are from those who are displeased that it comes with a warming drawer instead of a storage drawer, but even more say they love being able to keep their food warm while they finish prepping the rest of the meal or while waiting for family members to show up. A few also complain that the smoothtop is tough to keep clean, but that`s a common complaint with this type of electric range.
